My friend says she has Limewire to download free music for her ipod but when I went there I was so confused and skeptical about the site. Is it safe, easy, and really free? Can you really download music to your ipod because I have itunes and I have to pay 99 cents per song. I need help!
Itunes is a lot better and worth 99 cents per song, but limewire works. Be careful about what you download on it, though. A good trick to avoid viruses is to type the words in a song name out of order or leave out the little words, if the file is real it will have the name correctly no matter what order you searched for it in. A lot of viruses are set to bring up whatever you typed exactly as you typed it (out of order and all!) in or just something random like 'track 1'. And only download itunes files. 9 times out of 10 mp3 or WMA files are viruses or SPAM.
And, it is illegal. I prefer to just own up and pay for my music. Although you can find some pretty unique live pirates and rare things that aren't on itunes.
It works but it is a really bad site because it downloads a lotm of songs with a virus attached to it on your computer my friend had to get a new computer because of a virus sent to his computer

Limewire can be good or bad depending on the user and if they know what type of things to look for in a file. Sometimes you can still get it wrong and download a virus in addition to your song.
For the most part, it is not really free, the people that are uploading and downloading songs via Limewire are actually pirating those songs (which is stealing them). It is actually illegal unless the artist of the song or whoever has the rights to the song give express permission to use it for free, in which case it would probably just be on the website of the artist.
A lot of viruses get passed through Limewire so if you decide to be a pirate, make sure you have plenty of armor (security software) before doing so.
Limewire is ILLEGAL. You can be SUED or ARRESTED for STEALING. Check out iTunes. The lawsuit you would face by using the free service would cost you a lot mlimewire free downloading music siteore than 99 cents per song.
well, let me put it to u this way:
i HAD limewire (keyword here is had)
i used it for about 3 months and it worked great...i loved limewire...
it downloads quickly and is free
but then, u start downloading music...
i had downloaded about 100 songs off of it, using itunes to find new music, limewire to access the full song.
but of corse we didnt have good security software and our computer crashed...really badly. we lost all our documents and stuff and it wasnt fun
if i were u, i would get the best security software there is and download it, while still going for only the songs that are spelled CORRECTLY
or don't get it and stick to alternative downloading sources
it really just depends on how desparate u are to get free music
It is often illegal and has some virus-infected songs. Go with something that you pay for like itunes, or go with new artists that distribute their music free on their webpages (myspace.com or purevolume.com)
limewire used to be good, but now all you get is ads and porn, neither of which are good for your ipod or computer. i would suggest just dealing with the 99 cent fee or borrow cd's from friends and put them on your ipod that way.. there isnt really many safe ways to download music when its free. but if you decided that you wanted to download music i would suggest bearshare, it sounds gay but it works really well. and for the first month or so its free.
I wouldn't say that it's safe because:
1) It CAN give you a virus.
2) I don't think it's legal.
But I'm not saying you shouldn't use it. Everyone uses it, including me. And it's free.
It's easy enough to use and is free. However, make sure you have pretty good antivirus and spyware as it is a hot bed for viruses and spyware.
The simple answer is no.
There are a lot of viruses, trojans and other crazy crap on Limewire. Chances are if you use it you will be OK, but there is always a risk. I have already seen 2 computers go down to it already.

I use limewire and I love it. Works great. Just watch it if you download a video, I have had a problem with a few of tholimewire free downloading music sitese, as far as music goes no problems at all.
I use LimeWire all the time. I download songs, send them to my buddy, and he sticks them on his IPOD. So I guess you can!
It works, and it's free, but like all the downloading sites, it's illegal, but who in the world really cares? A study shows that 98% of the people are criminals just because everyone download stuff online for free. But yeah, I use Limewire to download both music and movies, and they're fine for my Ipod, so I guess it's fine. But there's always a risk.
it is....if u have zone alarm, and another antivirus pref. norton antivirus u shud b fine...if any pop ups come up saying that the file could b corrupted, it always will b so don't pursue that particlular link......it is actually free...amazing rite? lol. to bring into ur itunes page go to file, import, find the song, and sync ur ipod

Ok ok ok ok here we go. Limewire is totally free, i use it and its good. Now iTunes is free, i've "used" it before its not bad. which one would you say i liked, limewire. i didnt spend a buck. plus for all those ppl that say you get viruses from it, you wont get a virus unless its an exe type of file. plus if you have anti virus, it scans it everytime you download a song so you're good to go. Plus its legal because limewire is a P2P network, they share music, not sell it, cus sharing is caring and they except liscence and agreement. Its illegal if you take that free song and sell it. If you dont have anti virus and need one use AVG anti virus, its the best and ive used it for four years. Never once failed, they update you every day.
